17yr Old Boy Sells Wife to Buy Smartphone
A 17 year old boy from Odisha sold his wife to buy a smartphone. He has been sent to the correction home.
A 17-year-old youth fromOdisha’s Balangir district tied the knot with a 26 year old woman in July this year. In August, the youth, along with the woman, went to Rajasthan, where he took up the job of a brick kiln worker. After a few days, the teenager sold off the woman to a man fromRajasthan’s Baran district for a sum of Rs 1.8 lakh. The 17 year old boy then spent on dining and purchased a smartphone for himself. Later, he came back to Balangir district. When his wife’s family member inquired about her, He informed them that she left him. Her family, however, did not believe what he said and approached the police with their complaint. Following this, the police sprang up in action and questioned the teenager. During questioning, the boy confessed. When the police learnt that he had sold his wife they went to the Baran district in Rajasthan.
When the police went to get the woman, the local refused to give her to the police. They said that they had paid Rs 1.8 lakh for the girl which means she is their property. However with much difficulty the police managed to bring her back to Odisha. The police presented the 17 year old boy in a juvenile court, following which he was sent to a correctional home.
