5 Die in New Zealand Volcano Eruption

White Island volcano, or Whakaari, is New Zealand’s most popular volcanoes and is a famous tourist spots. More than 10,000 people visit the volcano every year every year. On 9th December 2019, the volcano erupted and killed five people. There was a group of tourists inside the volcano when it erupted.The New Zealand police said there had been 50 people near the volcano when it erupted.The police and authorities worked hard to rescue everyone. Many have suffered dangerous burns and one is severely injured.
Police Deputy Commissioner John Tims said a few people were missing. They are trying their best to find everyone as it is dangerous to be so close to the volcano. PM Jacinda Ardern said that the police are working very hard. When a volcano erupts, the gas released from the magma reacts with the air outside and ash starts falling. This ash is very dangerous for health. However authorities say that the Volcano has settled down and there haven’t been any more eruptions. They have said that now the volcano is safe for people to come visit. The volcano had erupted in 2016, but no one died.
