Every diwali, employers give their employees gifts for diwali. This can be in the form of sweets, an extra salary, or other gifts.
Savjibhai Dholakia is a Diamond Merchant from Gujarat. He is known to give his employees lavish gifts as diwali bonuses. In 2018, he gave 1700 of his employees cars and fixed deposits, as a diwali bonus. PM Modi also addressed the company staff through video conferencing. In an official statement, the company said that as a part of their loyalty bonus programme, the company gave incentives to 1700 diamond artists working in the company. They have also given life insurance ranging from Rs. 5 million to Rs. 10 million. Each car given as a gift cost Rs. 4 to 4.5 lakh. The total cost spent on gifting these cars was about Rs. 2.7 million. Dholakia said that he wanted each of his employees to have a house and a car, and this Diwali gifting way is the best way to achieve this target. He also said that this gifting will encourage and motivate the employees to work energetically in the future, and it will make the employees more serious in their work.
