Agra: Speeding Truck Drags 2 Bikers for 500 M
Two shocking incidents in Agra and Punjab highlight reckless behaviour on the roads, with one involving a truck dragging 2 men and the other causing traffic chaos for a viral dance reel.
In two separate incidents, shocking acts of recklessness have caused serious disruptions and injuries in India, raising concerns about public safety and the obsession with social media stunts.
On the night of 22nd December 2024, in Agra, two men, Zakir and Rabbi, were severely injured when a container truck hit their bike and dragged them for nearly 500 meters. The incident occurred around 11 pm when the two local men were returning home after dinner. As they were traveling from Waterworks to Rambagh, a container truck hit them from behind. Instead of stopping, the truck driver sped up, trapping the men under the vehicle and dragging them along the busy road.
Despite Zakir and Rabbi's screams for help, the driver of the truck ignored their cries and the warnings from passing vehicles. A video, made by a passerby, shows Zakir and Rabbi clinging to the truck’s front license plate and bumper, desperately trying to signal for help. The truck finally stopped at Waterworks after a few local vehicles overtook it. Locals rushed to the scene, pulling the truck back to free Zakir and Rabbi. The two were immediately taken to the hospital, with Zakir suffering severe bruises and Rabbi having a serious leg injury. It was reported that the driver, identified as Deepak from Firozabad, was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. The Agra Police arrested him and seized his truck.
In another shocking incident, a middle-aged woman in Nawanshahr, Punjab, caused major traffic disruption by filming a dance reel in the middle of a busy road. Reports say that the woman set up a chair in the middle of Sabzi Mandi road, placed her phone on another chair, and started recording a dance video while vehicles, including a Punjab Roadways bus, slowed down to avoid hitting her. Despite causing a traffic jam, the woman continued her dance, taking multiple takes for the reel. One commuter filmed the entire incident and shared the video on social media, where it quickly went viral.
After finishing her video, the woman disappeared, leaving behind a trail of traffic chaos. This incident raised questions about how people are willing to take risks, not only breaking traffic rules but also endangering their lives and others for the sake of social media fame. Surprisingly, no one stopped the woman during the act.
In a similar incident in Pune, two young people were arrested for performing a dangerous stunt on the roof of the Swami Narayan Temple without safety measures to make a reel. These incidents show the growing obsession with social media stunts and the serious safety risks associated with them.
As social media challenges continue to take priority over safety, authorities are urging people to be more responsible and cautious while using the roads.
