Al-Qaeda Chief Killed by America in Afghanistan
The United States on Tuesday 2nd August killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone attack conducted in Afghanistan.
Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, was the mastermind behind the global terror organization Al-Qaeda for last several decades. Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was once an eye surgeon, later helped in the founding of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad terrorist group called the “Al-Qaeda”. He succeeded the former leader Osama Bin Laden who was also responsible for the massive 9/11 terrorist attack in America,
However, Al-Zawahiri was also one of the key masterminds of the 9/11 terror attacks along with Osama Bin Laden. He was also referred to as Osama’s right-hand man. The terrorist took over as the al-Qaeda chief following the death of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad in 2011 after the US Forces killed him.
Al-Zawahiri became of USA’s most wanted terrorists. Zawahiri apart from being a key mastermind of 9/11 was also the mastermind of several other terrorist attacks including the suicide bombing of the USS Cole (Ship) naval destroyer in October 2000 in which 17 US soldiers were killed. Ayman al-Zawahiri released several videos during his time as chief of al-Qaeda with the aim to recruit more Muslims to the terrorist group.
He also came out in support of a female student in Karnataka who protested against the hijab ban in educational institutions of the state. Now to the latest update, the United States on Tuesday 2nd August killed al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone attack conducted in Afghanistan. The killing of a terrorist leader has been confirmed by US president Joe Biden himself. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) carried out an operation to kill Ayman al-Zawahiri. Zawahiri was standing on the balcony of a safe house when a US Military drone fired two missiles at him. Zawahiri’s other family members were present but only the terror mastermind was killed in the mission.
Ayman al-Zawahiri was responsible for murder and violence against American citizens. Now justice has been delivered and this terrorist leader is no more said US President Joe Biden on his tweeter. Biden further added that Zawahiri’s death would bring closure to the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. No matter how long it takes, no matter where you hide, if you are a threat to our people, the United States will find you and take you out. We shall never think twice about defending our nation and its people, Joe Biden has said.
Soon after the terrorist leader was killed in Afghanistan, Taliban leaders in Afghanistan said the US operation was in violation of international principles.
