Ambati Rayudu Announces Retirement From Cricket
Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu has announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket.
Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu is only 33-years old and has declared his retirement from all forms of cricket. He released a statement via the BCCI and announced his decision. He made his debut in the 2001-2002 season of the Ranji Trophy. He then went on to play 55 ODIS and 6 T20Is for India. He has scored a total of 1694 runs in ODIs with an average of 47.05 runs per match. He played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians and for CSK. He played 147 games in the IPL and scored 3300 runs with an average of 28.69 per match.
He was on the standby list for this year's World Cup. When Shikhar Dhawan was injured they picked Rishab Pant and Vijay Shankar was injured the team brought in Mayank Agarwal. Earlier as the World Cup drew closer Kohli had mentioned that he preferred Rayudu as his number 4 batsman,. However he still was not selected by the selectors. Chairman of Selectors MSK Prasad said he selected Shankar as he had “three-dimensional skills” this caused Rayudu to take a dig on Twitter saying that “ Just Ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the World Cup”.
The BCCI has wished him all the best in his future, and thanked him for all the contributions he has made to Indian Cricket. In other retirement news, rumours are going around that this World Cup will be the last for MS Dhoni. A senior BCCI official said it is very difficult to predict what he will do but it is unlikely he will play for India after this World Cup.
