Assam: Those with 2+ Children Won’t Get Government Job
In order to control the increasing population, the Assam government has issued a new policy that will not give government jobs to those who have more than two children.
Now the Assam Government has introduced strict rules for all those who have more than two children.
In 2017, state Assembly passed a bill called ‘The Population and Women Empowerment Policy of Assam’
Monday, the state government passed a rule that those with more than two kids will not be eligible for government jobs. This new rule will be effective from January 1, 2021.Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that they approved this so that mothers are safe, there is gender equality and people are aware about the problems of growing population. The Assam government, run by the BJP, has come up with this plan to control population.
The current employees in the government are also encouraged to follow this rule. If a person wants to stand for election or the State Assembly or Panchayat in Assam and it they they have more than 2 children, they will not be allowed to contest elections. In case any MLA from Assam breaks the family planning rule. For example if an MLAS has more than two children he will be disqualified from his post and never be allowed to stand for elections. from contesting polls" Sarma said that those who follow family planning rules will receive many benefits.
