Bihar: Woman's Kidney Stolen By the Doctors?
Sunita Devi, a woman from Muzaffarpur in Bihar whose kidneys were allegedly illegally taken by a hospital, has demanded that the doctor's organs be transplanted to her.
You might have heard a lot of things including expensive jewellery, cars, bikes, wallets getting stolen. But imagine someone claiming that their kidney is stolen? Well, if you don’t believe it, let us tell you this has happened in reality in Bihar. Yes, you heard that right, Sunita Devi, a woman from Muzaffarpur in Bihar whose kidneys were allegedly illegally taken by a hospital, has demanded that the doctor's organs be transplanted to her.On 3rd September, the 38-year-old woman went to a nursing home in Bariyarpur village, Muzaffarpur district, to have her uterus medically removed. If you don’t already know, the uterus is removed medically to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
Instead, the doctor reportedly removed both of her kidneys without her consent or alerting her family, as per the local media reports. Devi's condition deteriorated following surgery, and she was transported to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, where the horrifying kidney theft was discovered. To the family's surprise, physicians informed them that Devi's kidneys were missing and that she would not be able to survive without them. Devi has been surviving on regular dialysis at the SKMCH since then. SKMCH doctors directed Sunita to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna for treatment. She was transferred back to this hospital after being treated there. Sunita, who has no kidneys, could die if she does not receive dialysis for even one day, according to Dr BS Jha, superintendent of SKMCH, Muzaffarpur.
The police have filed a report against Pawan Kumar, the owner of the Subhakant Clinic, and Dr R. K. Singh in response to a complaint submitted by Devi's family. They have been on the run since the incident was reported in September. According to police, the clinic was not registered, and the doctor's educational credentials appeared to be fake. Devi has three children, and her husband is a landless labourer who hardly makes bread for his family. Sunita's condition is critical, according to doctors at IGIMS. Devi has been asked to enroll at the IGIMS for an organ transplant, which will be done only when kidneys become available there. She, however, demanded that the Police should arrest the accused doctor and that her kidneys should be given to her. What do you think about this shocking & weird news?
