Blue Drum Murder: Father Shot by Son, Dismembered Body Hidden at Home

A 21-year-old man in Lucknow was arrested for allegedly killing his father after a dispute over career plans, and police are continuing their investigation.

A shocking incident has come to light from the Ashiyana area of Lucknow, where a 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his father inside their three-storey house.

The accused, Akshat Pratap Singh, is a B.Com student. His father, Manvendra Singh, aged around 50, was a well-known businessman who ran pathology laboratories and was also a licensed liquor trader. After the death of his wife around nine years ago, Manvendra was raising Akshat and his younger daughter, Kriti, on his own.

According to police, an argument broke out between father and son around 4.30 am on 20 February on the third floor of their house. The dispute was reportedly related to studies and career plans. Manvendra was urging his son to focus on preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam, while Akshat did not wish to pursue a medical career. The disagreement had reportedly been ongoing for a long time.

During the argument, Akshat allegedly used his father’s licensed rifle and shot him. His younger sister was present in the house at the time. Police said she was threatened and remained silent out of fear for several days.

Investigators said the accused then tried to hide the crime by moving the body to another part of the house and attempting to destroy evidence. He also allegedly disposed of some remains in different areas on the outskirts of the city and buried the weapon to avoid detection. Later, he filed a missing person’s complaint on 21 February, claiming that his father had gone to Delhi and was not reachable.

However, police grew suspicious after finding inconsistencies in his statements. Bloodstains were reportedly discovered inside the house and in the car. After questioning, Akshat allegedly confessed to the crime.

Police recovered human remains from the house and sent them for forensic examination. A post-mortem has been conducted, and search operations are still ongoing to recover remaining body parts. Officials said the accused had also tried to arrange materials to destroy evidence.

During the investigation, it was found that a few days before the incident, Akshat had allegedly taken jewellery and cash from the house and blamed a domestic worker. Police are examining all angles, including possible financial and personal tensions within the family.

Neighbours told police that there had been frequent arguments between father and son in the past. Family members said they never imagined such an incident could take place, as the family was financially stable.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of law, and further legal action is underway. Police said the investigation is continuing, and more details will emerge after forensic reports are completed.
