Boy Travels 700 Km & Misses NEET Exam by 10 Mins
Santosh Kumar Yadav was not allowed to appear for the NEEt examination on account of being 10 minutes late.
Santosh Kumar Yadav, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, travelled for more than 24 hours and changed two buses to travel 700 kilometres to reach Kolkata for his National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). He boarded a bus at Darbhanga at 8 am to reach Muzaffarpur. From there he took a bus to Patna but there was a traffic jam on the route and he got delayed by almost six hours. He took another bus from Patna at 9 pm. The bus dropped him near Sealdah station at 1.06 pm. He then took a taxi to the examination centre at a school in Salt Lake. Unfortunately, he was late by 10 minutes. Santosh Yadav was not allowed to enter the examination centre.
Santosh Yadav told a local TV channel, “I lost a year. I pleaded with the authorities but they said I was late. The examination started at 2 pm. I reached the centre around 1.40 pm. The deadline for entering the centre was 1.30 pm.” NEET examinees were asked to report at least three hours in advance. As it takes time for security and health checks due to the Covid-19 crisis. The school authorities could not be contacted but inconvenience faced by NEET examinees. Many disagreed with the decision to hold the NEET examination. Due to travel restrictions in many areas, students failed to reach their centres on time and missed the examination. Some voluntarily refused to give the exam due to fear of infection.
