Chandrayaan-2 Launches Successfully
ISRO successfully launches Chandrayaan-2 into the Earth’s orbit. This has cemented India’s position in the international community as a space superpower.
The Chandrayaan-2 was supposed to launch on 15th July 2019. ISRO said in a statement that all problems had been removed and the rocket would be launched on 22nd July 2019. Chandrayaan 2 was successfully launched from the Sriharikota space station at exactly 2:43 on Monday. For the first time in history the project was led by two women scientists Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal.
The Chandrayaan-2 consists of an Orbiter, Lander and Rover. It weighs 3,850 kg. These are all within the most powerful GSLV-Mk-III rocket in India. It is also called ‘Baahubali’ because of its strength. It will mostly reach the moon in the first week of September. Once it is near the Moon, the lander will land on the south pole of the moon. After a while the rover will be released. This rover will move around the surface of the moon and collect information. This information will be sent to earth through the orbiter which will be revolving around the moon.
NASA on Monday congratulated ISRO. They said that they are looking forward to know what information India finds on the moon. India aims to put astronauts in space by 2022. This technology made by India is extremely cheap. Everyone is very proud of its success. India has proved again that we are very powerful in space. If all goes well and Chandrayaan-2 lands on the moon, it will become the fourth country after Russia, USA and China. PM Modi was watching the launch as well. He Tweeted that The success of the project shows India’s capabilities in the field of science. People all over the world have congratulated India. ISRO chief K Sivan thanked all the scientists who worked hard to solve problems and make the mission a success!
