Cop Who Refused to Pay Bar Bill Gets Suspended
Summary A police constable who refused to pay his bar bill, and threatened the bar owner, got suspended.
Mahadev Sonawane is a police constable at Nehru Nagar police station.
On 22 November 2018,he visited the Siddhivinayak bar in Kurla along with his friends. When it was time to pay the bill, Mahadev got furious and refused to pay the bill. He started shouting and fighting with the waiters.
Dinesh Shetty, the owner of the bar tried to calm him but Mahadev refused to listen. Mahadev even threatened the owner of the bar by saying that he would frame him for a crime. He continued to abuse the waiters and the owner. He even damaged the owners bike.
Dinesh shetty filed a complaint at Nehru Nagar police station, after which a non-cognisable offence was registered against him.
Senior police inspector Vilas Shinde confirmed that Mahadev’s has been suspended. The investigation is still going on and the police haven't confirmed whether the constable was drunk or not at the time.
