COVID Positive Doctor Booked for Travelling
A COVID-19 positive doctor in Bhuj, Gujarat has been booked for traveling from Mumbai without valid permits.
A 22-year-old lady doctor from Bhuj was working in Mumbai. She was tested for COVID-19 on 3 rd May and received a positive report on 4th May. The lady then traveled to Bhuj, Gujarat on 5th May without any permission. Health officials were conducting testing everyone who returned from other states. On Friday, 8th May, they went to the doctor’s house, she told them that she was doing an internship at JJ Hospital and had also tested positive. She had not informed authorities that she tested positive in Mumbai when she reached Bhuj.
On the same day, the health officials immediately informed the police about her. A police constable then filed an FIR against her Kutch Collector Praveena DK said that the doctor was in-home quarantine. But to be safe, her 14 close contacts, including her family members, have been shifted to an institutional quarantine center. 80 people in her neighborhood have been told to remain in isolation at their homes.
The collector said that the doctor didn’t have a permit from Maharashtra authorities to travel to Gujarat even then the Gujarat government had issued her permission to enter Gujarat. Kutch district is an orange zone. There were only 8 confirmed cases of COVID – 19 reported from the district. Out of 8 cases, three of them had a history of traveling to Maharashtra. The collector said “Till now, around 7,000 people have returned to Kutch from Maharashtra. Once they enter Kutch our health teams track them closely and test them randomly.
