Deaf Girl, Tops CBSE Examination

Lavanya Balakrishnan, a girl with a deaf, has topped the CBSE Examination in the Persons With Disabilities category. She has scored a 489/500.

This year, about 13 lakh students gave their 12th standard, CBSE examinations, which began on February 16th.

Results were declared on 2nd May, Thursday. These results were available on the board's official website “cbse.nic.in”, and its official results portal, “cbseresults.nic.in.”

This year too, the girls have scored better than the boys, with three girls holding the second rank.

A student with a hearing impairment, has topped the CBSE examination in the Persons With Disabilities category.

Lavanya Balakrishnan is a student of Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Gurgaon. She scored 489 marks out of 500. The subjects she chose were English, Sociology, Political Science, Painting and Home Science. She has scored a perfect 100 in Political Science.

With 97.3% Lavanya wants a career in designing. She said that she loved the subject Political Science, but she wanted to make her career in designing.

Lavanya said that she was surprised after receiving her result. She said that this has boosted her confidence.

 She said that she adopted the policy of not studying for more than six hours a day, and that she started studying from the very beginning, to prevent struggling at the time of exams.

Lavanya thanked her parents for always supporting her and her sister. Her mother teaches in the same school and also took care of her education. She said that her mother always motivated her. She never felt that she had a disability, and was not able to do something.
