Ambedkar Jayanti 2022: Here’s how the nation celebrates Dr BR Ambedkar’s 131st birth anniversary.

Today is the 14th of April. It is marked as Ambedkar Jayanti to honour Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s contributions to India in fighting social evils like caste discrimination and oppression. It is his 131st birth anniversary. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Baba Saheb Ambedkar, was born on 14 April 1891, at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, India. Dr B. R.Ambedtkar was born a Dalit and he was treated as an untouchable. He and other Dalit students were treated as untouchables and made to sit separately. Ambedkar became the first Dalit to complete higher education. He was an expert lawyer, writer, politician, economist, and editor. After his education, he entered politics entirely, aiming to fight for the rights of the backward classes and against the inequality practised in society. He was the man who fought for the rights of crores of other Indians and not just himself. After Independence, he became the chairman of the drafting committee of the Indian constitution. Hence is called the architect of the constitution of India. We will tell you in detail about Dr Ambedkar’s life story and his contribution to India in a separate video. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too paid tribute to BR Ambedkar on Twitter for his indelible contributions to the country's progress. The prime minister also attached a video paying respects to BR Ambedkar which shows various aspects of Baba Saheb’s life. President and Prime Minister both paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar in Delhi. The Maharashtra government unveiled a 72-feet tall statue dedicated to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Latur city in the presence of Union minister Ramdas Athawale. The state government named the statue the 'Statue of Knowledge'. Additionally, a 131 kg cake was cut by Education Minister Varsha Eknath Gaikwad  on the eve of the 131st birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar at Bhoiwada, Mumbai. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on 13th April announced in the Assembly that the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar on April 14 would be celebrated as 'Equality Day' from this year onwards. The Telangana government would install the 125-ft tall statue of Dr B R Ambedkar by December this year. A museum would be set up at the location and would be a source of inspiration to the people of the country. On the other hand, the people of Nepal also observed at an event in Kathmandu on Wednesday 13th April,  where participants spoke about the extraordinary contributions of Dr Ambedkar for social justice and inclusion.
