Heatwave refers to a period of unusually hot weather with extremely high temperatures. Countries like the UK, Spain & France which are usually known for their extremely cold weather are now witnessing extreme heat and the same can be seen in various incidents across Europe. The following news story is a clear example of what exactly humans have done to this planet as a result of which extreme heatwaves are now witnessed across Europe.

Two months ago, France experienced its hottest May ever on record. Last month, France again witnessed a heat wave that also affected other countries including Spain, Italy, and several others. Then, this month, Poland and other parts of Eastern Europe suffered from the heat wave. On July 19, the UK recorded its highest temperature ever, going past 40 degrees Celsius for the first time, at London’s Heathrow airport. Importantly there are still 2 months left for the summer to end.

Because of the ongoing heatwave in the UK, Videos from all across the country have surfaced on social media showing what damage the extremely high temperature has caused. One of these videos shows houses in a village outside East of London damaged by a massive fire caused because of the heatwave, while another one shows a forest burning on the side of a highway. The record-breaking heat has also led to an increase in the number of fire cases, the London Fire Brigade said it had deployed dozens of fire engines to several fires in and around the city.

In addition, the railways in the UK are also massively affected due to the heatwave, In some pictures shared by the British, Railways melted railway signals can be seen in Bedfordshire’s Sandy town of extremely high temperatures. A picture of the signal at the East Coast Main Line was also posted on Wednesday 20th which shows burnt tracks and melted signals.
