Matthew Perry from 'Friends' passed away due to drowning caused by illegal Ketamine use. South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun died by suicide amid a drug abuse investigation.
Famous American & Canadian actor Matthew Perry died in the hot tube of his Los Angeles house on 28th October 2023 at the age of 54. Matthew gained recognition & love for his role of ‘Chandler Bing’ in one of the most watched super hit American comedy TV series ‘Friends’. Matthew’s lifeless body was found floating head-down in his terrace hot tub by his assistant. His assistant even tried to resuscitate him. The emergency services reached the scene, checked Matthew and then pronounced him dead. Initially, drowning was thought to be the cause of his death but last week, Matthew’s autopsy report revealed that he died due to "acute effects of ketamine". Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic hallucinogen drug. It can cause a person to feel detached from their pain and environment. According to the reports, Matthew was undergoing ‘ketamine infusion therapy’ (injected) to treat his depression & anxiety but his last therapy session was documented a week and half before his death. Doctors and Neurologists said that because ketamine has a three to four hours effect. Hence, the ketamine in Perry’s system could not have come from that infusion but possibly from illegally obtained drug for “recreational” purposes and believe that the drug played a huge role in Matthew’s drowning. Matthew had a long history of substance, alcohol and tobacco addiction. His friends claim that he struggled with substance abuse almost all his adult life and often lied about being clean. Matthew’s Friends co-stars took a while to accept the news. They later expressed their grief and paid their tribute to him on social media. One his close friend & Friends co-star Jennifer Anniston has requested people to contribute to the ‘Matthew Perry Foundation’ started by family and friends. The foundation was Matthew’s long old dream and it aims to help people struggling with substance addiction and abuse.
