Golconda Fort And Ramappa Temple Now Accessible to Deaf!
Yunikee and ASI have collaborated to make historic sites like Golconda Fort And Ramappa Temple accessible to the Deaf.
Across India there are so many historical locations. We love visiting these places. Tourists from India and the world come to visit these places. At all of these sites, there are board with information about the site in Hindi or English. There are headphones through people can listen to the audio information. The audio is provided in Hindi, Tamil, Japanese, German, etc. Tourists from across the world have access to the information. Are Deaf people interested to visit and learn about these historic sites? Yes they are very interested! They want the knowledge but there is no accessibility. Deaf people understand some of the written content and misunderstand the other half. They are not satisfied. They want accessibility in ISL. So now there is a company called Yunikee - Sign Name. It is headed by Chaitanya Kothapalli, Nita Gopalakrishnan and Rahul Jain. They have a team of Deaf individuals comprising of Deaf editors, videographers, Signers, etc. Yunikee went to Delhi and connected with ASI. The Archaeological Survey of India works to preserve historical monuments and there are 178 monuments under them.
6 months back Yunikee met with ASI and told them about their previous projects. ASI realised that the Deaf must be given accessibility. As the first step, out of the 178 monuments, they decided to start with Hyderabad.
As the first step Yunikee was told to start with the Golconda Fort and the Ramappa Temple. Deaf signers signed all the content in ISL and finally New QR code boards in sign language have been installed. Scan the QR code on your phone and learn all about the site. You will benefit a lot! Now there is no need to suffer and endure barriers. There is accessibility. Along with ISL the information is also delivered in International Sign Language. This will help foreign tourists understand the content. They are giving two options! Cheers to their hardwork! ASI has them to provide videos in BSL, JSL, ASL, etc so that foreign tourists cna get accessibility in their own language.
Yunikee said that if the QR code gets more than 5,000 views, then the balance 176 sites can be made accessible in ISL. If Deaf people like this, then historical sites in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, etc will be made accessible via QR codes. Make sure the views on the QR code are high because the gpvernment wants to know if Deaf people like this or not. So do support them. Yunikee team has worked very hard to provide accessibility to the Deaf Community. We applaud them and are happy for this collaboration.
