Heartbreaking Stories of COVID-19 in India

In this video, we bring to you some of the heartbreaking stories of people in India running from pillar to post to treat their loved ones suffering from COVID-19.

India is going through the second wave of the coronavirus. This wave is much deadlier than the first one. Since a few weeks there have been lakhs of people being infected everyday. There is news about lack of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, medicines, cremation grounds etc. Let me tell you about some heart wrenching incidences that happened in the past week. On 27th April a woman in the Bhind, Madhya Pradesh was pregnant and went into labour. The hospital staff refused to admit her without the presence of the Covid-19 report. The woman kept screaming in pain and her husband begged the hospital authorities for them to admit her but they did not accept. No one permitted them entry inside the hospital, after which the woman gave birth on the road in front of the main gate of the Bhind Government Hospital. In Andhra Pradesh a 50 year old woman died when she was waiting for her CT scan report. From the report it was found that she had Covid. The woman’s son carried his dead mother's body on a two-wheeler for 18 kilometres to the cremation grounds as he was unable to find an ambulance or an autorickshaw. A video shows the son riding the bike with his 50-year-old mother's body at his back, and a relative holding the body in place.

In another incident being reported from Visakhapatnam, a one and half-year-old child died in an ambulance while waiting for a hospital bed. The child had tested positive for the coronavirus and was breathing from oxygen support in the ambulance while waiting for a bed.
