Shocking incidents of foreign objects found in food and packages raise safety concerns

Finger Found in Ice Cream

Recently, a man in Mumbai found a piece of a finger in his packaged ice cream cone ordered from Zepto. ISH released a video on the shocking incident.

Centipede in Amul Ice Cream

Deepa Devi from Noida ordered Amul’s Vanilla ice cream tub from an online delivery app last week. Upon opening the box, she found a dead and frozen centipede inside. She quickly took a picture, shared it on X (formerly Twitter), and tagged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) with a caption calling for action. Deepa later filed a police complaint. Amul representatives took a sample of the ice cream for investigation but faced issues when more representatives came to collect the box without proper identification, leading Deepa to refuse to hand it over. Amul issued a statement saying they would investigate if they received the box.

Blade in Air India Meal

Journalist Mathures Paul, travelling from Bengaluru to San Francisco via Air India, found a sharp blade-like object in his meal. He shared a picture on X, blaming Air India. Air India confirmed the incident, stating the object belonged to their catering partner’s vegetable processing machine and apologized to Paul.

Dead Rat in Sambar

An unnamed customer found a dead rat in his sambar while dining at Devi Dosa restaurant in Ahmedabad. The customer’s complaint led to an investigation by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), which found the restaurant's kitchen unsafe and sealed the establishment.

Dead Frog in Chips

Jasmin Patel from Jamnagar, Gujarat, discovered a dead frog in a packet of Balaji Wafers purchased from a local shop. She reported the incident to the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, and officials confirmed the presence of the dead frog. Balaji Wafers’ manager denied the claim, stating their plant is fully automated, but the company will investigate.

Mouse in Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup

Last week, Prami Sridhar recorded a video showing a dead mouse being removed from a Hershey’s chocolate syrup bottle she ordered from Zepto. She shared the video on social media, stating her family members had consumed the syrup before the discovery. Hershey’s responded, asking for the product details to investigate.

Live Snake in Amazon Package

Tanvi and her husband from Bengaluru ordered an Xbox controller from Amazon and found a spectacled cobra inside the package. They filmed the incident and reported it to the Forest & Wildlife Authority, who rescued the snake. Amazon issued a statement saying they are investigating the incident, and the couple received a full refund.
