IIT-Guwahati Develops Fake Meat

Researchers at IIT-Guwahati have developed a new technique to create affordable artificial meat that help to restore balance in the environment.

Bad agricultural practices have seriously affected the environment. Also meat production of cows is increasing the greenhouse effect due to methane emission. Animal cruelty is yet another concern with the meat industry. Food is being wasted water and land is being over consumed. Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, are trying to help save the environment. They have developed a lab-grown meat. These researchers have developed a new technique through which they can formulate artificial meat. Dr. Biman B. Mandal, said that The lab-grown meat will be comparable to raw meat in terms of nutritional value and taste and is "completely natural."

The taste of the meat will be similar to raw meat but with improved nutritional values. "Usage of external chemicals like hormones, medicines, etc. have not been used. The meat is completely safe. The meat can be produced on a large scale.  Meat equivalent to 100 chickens can be made in one day. He said that the lab-grown meat does not harm animals and is cruelty free. Since our affordable meat product is the same as natural meat in terms of taste, appearance and nutritive values. This will prevent slaughtering of animals and will help meet the growing food demand in India. India’s population is continuously growing and there is a big problem of food shortage. This fake meat will help to feed the population of the country.
