Imran Khan’s Take on Indian Elections
Pakistani Prime Minister- Imran Khan believes that the Kashmir issue could be solved more efficiently by the BJP coming to power in the upcoming elections.
The Pakistani Prime Minister- Imran Khan is of the opinion, that his country needs to maintain peaceful and cordial relations with her neighbours, in order to bring about economic development, to bring Pakistan's 100 million people out of poverty.
Commenting on the election scenario in India, Khan said that it would be better if the BJP won the upcoming elections, in order to reach a settlement on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed that the Congress coming to power would do no good, since it would be “too scared” to seek a settlement with Pakistan over the Jammu Kashmir issue.
Khan expressed that he knew some Muslims in India, who were initially happy to live in the country, however, now due to increased Hindu extremism in the country, they are worried about being victims of attacks on their Muslim-ness.
According to Imran Khan, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu was electioneering based on the ideals of fear and nationalist feeling. Khan believes that Modi too has followed the same ideals in his election campaign.
Imran expressed the willingness of his country to move towards peaceful cooperation. He said that Islamabad was ready to dismantle all the Pakistan based militia in the country, and that it had the support of the Pakistani army in doing so.
Imran Khan believes that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, that exists between the two nations is a matter of political concern, and hence, there was no need to use military strength and force to tackle the issue.
Election analysts in our country believe that the attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama, and our military’s fitting reply, has bettered the chances of the BJP winning the elections.
