While we are still happy with India winning the ICC T20 World Cup, we have another reason to celebrate as the Indian deaf cricket team has defeated hosts England to win the 7-match T20 Bilateral series by 5-2. The Indian team was invited & hosted by the England & South Wales Cricket Board. ECB played the perfect host and the Indian team was delighted to get this unique opportunity to play in 5 cricket grounds. The Indian Deaf Cricket Association’s Deaf Cricket Team’s success is a moment of celebration for the entire nation, as it marks another milestone in the journey of Indian cricket. The series witnessed an intense battle between India and England, with both teams demonstrating exceptional cricketing talent. However, it was the Indian team that dominated throughout the series. In the last match, India defeated England by 6 wickets. Selecting to bowl, India restricted England to 164 for 4 and then chased down the target with four balls to spare. India did not have the best of starts to their chase, losing the first three wickets for only 46 runs. But Abhishek Singh and Umar Ashraf shared a 95-run partnership to rebuild the innings and helped win the game. Abhishek Singh was awarded the title of 'Man of the Match' while Sai Akash was referred to as 'Man of the Series.' Speaking on this monumental achievement for India, Sumit Jain, President of IDCA said, “The victory in this bilateral series against England is not just a win on the field but a testament (proof) to the perseverance and skill of our Deaf players.” He added, “It marks a significant milestone for deaf cricket in India, showcasing our capability to compete and succeed at the highest levels of the sport.
