India’s First Submarine Tourism to Be Launched Gujarat
Gujarat Government has collaborated with the Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL), Mumbai to launch India’s first submarine tourism in Dwarka city.
The Gujarat government has announced the launch of India's first submarine tourism in Dwarka. The tourism facility is likely to be operationalised before Diwali 2024. Gujarat Government has collaborated with the Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL), Mumbai to explore the marine life surrounding ‘Bet Dwarka’, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city. An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two. Dwarka & ‘Bet Dwarka’ have a religious significance in Hinduism. It was a glorious & rich city built and ruled by Lord Krishn himself. The project will enable tourists to dive 100 meters below the sea in a submarine to experience the marine life around the island and see the remains of Lord Krishn’s Dwarka city that submerged in the sea. The submarine will weigh around 35 tonnes and costs less than ?50 crore. 24 tourists per dive will be made to sit in two rows adjacent to window seats to conveniently experience the underwater scenery from inside. It will be piloted by two experienced pilots and one professional crew member. The project is inspired from the Titanic submersible expedition where people are taken deep into the ocean to see the remains of the famous Titanic ship. Managing Director of Gujarat Tourism, Saurabh Pardhi called it a “different project” that will significantly further boost employment, investments & tourism in & around Dwarka. Passenger safety will be most important.
