India Gay Couple Become Pregnant in USA
India Gay Couple in the USA who earlier got viral after getting married as per Hindu rituals are now expecting their first baby, and the news has busted the internet.
Aditya Madiraju and Amit Shah went viral on the internet in 2019 after photos of their grand traditional Hindu wedding in New Jersey, USA. A Telugu boy from New Delhi married a Gujarati American boy from New Jersey. They had met in 2016 at a birthday party and since then have been together. The couple’s fairy-tale wedding was held as per Hindu traditions. They recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary. Amit is the owner and creative director of AATMA Performing Arts (dance shows, dance class and other services) and Aditya is a wealth management bank employee and beauty blogger.
They are now set to welcome their first baby due in May. Adorable photographs of the couple’s paternity shoot were printed in the People Magazine. The couple shared adorable ultrasound pictures of their soon-to-be-born baby. In the magazine they said that since getting married, they have been learning about having biological children. From understanding the differences between surrogates, egg donors and gestational carriers to deciding which of those partners would be part of their family’s growth, it was a learning curve for the couple.
A surrogate, or traditional surrogate, refers to a woman who shares a genetic link to the child. A gestational carrier is a woman who carries and delivers a child for another couple or individual (. She does not have any biological connection to the child.
They also found out that the cost was higher for them than that for heterosexual couples. "Most of this, actually 90 percent of this or more, is out of our pocket," Amit explains, sharing that only a few insurance companies support LGBTQ couples in their fertility journey. They decided to find an egg donor and use the sperm of one of them. They haven’t disclosed whose sperm was used. The couple said that while looking for an egg donor they wanted a woman who was involved in arts as they wanted their child to have artistic skills.
After finding the egg donor, it took four rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) for them to confirm the happy news.
Aditya said, “We are hoping that having a baby normalizes being gay and that it doesn’t matter if you’re a same-sex couple, you can just lead the life you want. I want this to be a guide for those who are trying. because so many have gotten married after we have, and they have reached out to us thanking us because they figured out how to convince their parents and families because of us. So this might very well help too.” Like any couple, they want to celebrate Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and all holidays. The couple is excited about the baby and curious about how their life would turn out to be. Amit said, “We won’t be talking about gay couples like we do now. We’ll just be talking about couples. We won’t be gay parents, we’ll just be parents.”
