India Rejects US over Citizenship Bill

US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) have disagreed with the India’s Citizenship Amendment Bill. Watch the video for all the details.

The Lok Sabha has passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and now it will soon be presented in the  Rajya Sabha today on 11th December. Once it is passed in the Rajya Sabha, it will become a law. Members of Parliament and people all over the country are not at all happy with the law. The American organisation called US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) said that the CAB law is very dangerous and India is going in the wrong way. They also said that because of this law, many Muslims will not be given Indian citizenship. After this, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)  released a strong reply.

The MEA said that the USCIRF does not know about the situation in India. If they understand properly, they would not say all this. The Indian government said that India wants to give citizenship to non-muslim minorities. In countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Muslims are a Majority not a minority. Other religions like christians, parsis, etc. are a minority. They are persecuted for their religion in their countries and want to come to India for a better life.India wants to help them. The USCIRF must support India instead giving negative statements.
