Indian Student Shot Dead in USA
An Indian student studying in US’ Cincinnati shot and killed in a tragic incident, leaving the university community devastated.
Aaditya Adlakha, a 26-year-old Delhiite who was studying in Cincinnati, USA was shot in his car on 9th November 2023. Aaditya was a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the molecular and developmental biology program at the University of Cincinnati Medical School. According to the reports, Aaditya was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his car that had crashed into a wall. The Cincinnati police were informed about the incident by passing-by drivers who saw a car with multiple bullet holes & a shot person inside it. The police also received an alert from ShotSpotter at 6:20 am. ShotSpotter is a gunfire locator service in America that detects and conveys the location of gunfire & other weapon fire using acoustic, vibration, optical, & other types of sensors. The Cincinnati police found Aaditya inside his vehicle. There were three bullet holes visible in the driver’s side window. Aditya was immediately rushed to the UC Medical Center. He was in an extremely critical condition for 2 days and then passed away on 11th November 2023. According to the local reports, no arrests have been made since the shooting was reported. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has termed this incident as “sudden, tragic and senseless.” Senior VP of Health Affairs & dean of the university, Andrew Filak described Aaditya as “much-loved, exceedingly kind and humorous, intelligent and sharp, whose research was described as novel and transformative.” The school has issued a statement expressing their grief & offering condolences to Aaditya’s family & friends.
