Aanvi Kamdar, a 27-year-old from Malad, Mumbai, studied accounting and became a Chartered Accountant, working at Deloitte. She later transitioned to becoming a full-time social media influencer, gaining fame for her travel posts, particularly on monsoon tourism.

On 16 July 2024, Aanvi visited Kumbhe Waterfall in Mangaon, Raigad district of Maharashtra, with seven friends. While recording a video for her Instagram, she slipped and fell into a 300-foot deep gorge. Her friends alerted the police and local rescuers, who rushed to the spot. The Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) staff joined the rescue efforts.

Rescuer Shantanu Kuveskar stated, "She fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300 ft into the valley and couldn't be spotted initially. After about 6 hours of searching, the rescuers found her. She was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock."

Aanvi was responsive during the rescue and was taken to the Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital, where she was put on ventilator support. Unfortunately, due to severe injuries from the fall, she passed away at the hospital.

This tragic event underscores the importance of safety when capturing content in dangerous locations. Local authorities in Maharashtra are urging tourists and content creators to be cautious and avoid risky areas, even for the sake of spectacular photos and videos.
