Inspiring: Himachal Pradesh Beggar Girl Becomes Doctor!

Pinki Haryan, once a beggar in Himachal Pradesh, overcame poverty and hardships to become a qualified doctor through hard work and support from a charitable trust.

Pinki Haryan, from a slum in McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, has shown how dedication and hard work can change lives. Pinki once begged for food and money with her family, but today, she is a qualified doctor after overcoming many hardships.

In 2004, Pinki’s life changed when Mr. Lobsang Jamyang, a Tibetan refugee monk and director of a charitable trust, found her begging in the streets. He offered her the chance to study and leave the life of poverty behind. After convincing her parents, Jamyang enrolled Pinki in Dayanand Public School in Dharamshala, where she lived in the trust’s hostel.

At first, Pinki missed her family but soon realized that education was her path out of poverty. Her determination helped her excel in school, and she later passed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which allowed her to pursue medical studies.

Though the high fees of private medical colleges posed a challenge, Pinki received support from the UK-based Tong-Len Charitable Trust and was able to attend a medical college in China. In 2018, she began her studies and has now successfully completed her MBBS degree.

Pinki recently returned to Dharamshala after a long 20-year journey. She is now preparing to pass the exam that will allow her to practice medicine in India. Her dream is to help the poor and underprivileged by providing them with medical care.

Pinki credits her success to Mr. Jamyang, who she says was like a father figure, guiding her with kindness and belief in her potential. Today, her siblings are also studying with the help of Jamyang’s trust, following in her footsteps.

Pinki’s story is one of hope, showing that with perseverance and the right support, even the toughest struggles can be overcome.
