IRCTC Conducts Survey to Find the Best Trains in India
IRCTC rates the cleanest trains in India.
The Indian Railways Catering Tourism Corporation conducted a ‘Total Cleanliness Survey’ 209 trains. They wanted to see the progress of the ‘Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat’ mission and wanted to encourage healthy competition between among trains.
North Western Railway [NWR] came first in ‘premium’ category trains and scored 860 out of 1000.The Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Tejas and Gatiman Express are the various ‘premium’ category trains. The South Central Railway came first in the ‘other than premium’ category and scored 658 out of 1000. The ‘other than premium’ trains are Sampark Kranti, Intercity, Jan Shatabdi and other Mail and Express trains.The Eastern Central Railways had the dirtiest trains with a score of 572 out of 1000.
23 Rajdhani trains were surveyed. Of all these, Mumbai Rajdhani topped the survey. 26 Shatabdi trains were surveyed. The Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi received the highest points of 916 points out of 1000. 20 Sampark Kranti trains were also surveyed. The Kochuveli-Chandigarh Sampark Kranti was the cleanest with a score of 754 out of 1000.
Opinions of 15,360 passengers regarding toilets, housekeeping, linens and general cleanliness were collected from 16 zones.
