Israel-Hamas Peace Talks, Trump Calls PM Modi 'Very Good Friend'
Trump’s peace plan stopped the Israel-Hamas war, but India skipped the Gaza Peace Summit. Trump praised India and PM Modi during the event.
ISH News had earlier reported on US President Donald Trump’s “20-point” peace plan to end the war between Israel and Hamas. Israel had already accepted the plan, and later, Hamas agreed too.
As part of the peace deal, Hamas released the last 20 hostages it had held for two years in Gaza, though sadly, some hostages had already died in captivity. In return, Israel freed 1,968 Palestinian prisoners from its jails. With this exchange, the fighting has stopped and peace has temporarily returned to Gaza.
President Trump called the deal a major foreign policy success. He was invited to Israel’s Parliament, where he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave speeches. Netanyahu praised Trump, saying, “No American President has ever done more for Israel.”
Following this, the Gaza Peace Summit (Sharm El Sheikh Summit) was held on 13 October 2025 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, attended by over 30 world leaders, including Trump and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Interestingly, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited by Trump but did not attend. Even External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar skipped the event. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor called it a “missed opportunity.”
Later, it was revealed that Netanyahu also skipped the summit, which may explain India’s absence. His decision suggests that Israel might not fully support the peace deal and could still act against Hamas.
During the summit, Trump praised India and Modi, calling him a “fantastic leader” and said he believes India and Pakistan will live peacefully together.
