Jammu & Kashmir: Deaf Students Pass Std 10th

4 Deaf Kashmir’s Anantnag district have crossed 10th class with remarkable success.

7 disabled students of Zaiba Apa Institute of Inclusive Education Bijbehara in Kashmir’s Anantnag district have passed 10th class with remarkable success. Javed Ahmad Tak, is himself wheel-chair bound for decades now and is running this school. The students who have passed the examination include 4 deaf students who are: Ifla Syed, Jasmina Bashir, Irtiza Nisar, Shakir Farooq. Javed said that most of them were drop outs from regular schools. They joined the special school as they wanted to study. Now they have finally passed the 10th class examination. Javed said that so far around 25 disabled students of Zaiba Apa school have passed the 10th class examination.

Family members of Irtiza Nisar, one of the deaf students, said she joined Zaiba Apa school from the beginning and it was possible due to the efforts of teachers that she was able to cross 10th grade. She scored 407 /500. They said that if this school wouldn’t have been available in the area, Irtiza wouldn’t have been able to study. The other 3 deaf students scored the following marks - Ifla syed 399 /500, Jasmina Bashir 398 /500, Shakir farooq 320 /500. The students said that the disabled can compete with non disbaled students with ease and they must make disability strength not weakness. These students said that those who have left studies due to disability must come forward and join special schools so that they won’t remain dependent on others.
