Joe Biden Selects All Women Communication Team
President-elect Joe Biden announced an all-women communications team for his administration.
President-elect Joe Biden announced an all-women communications team for his administration. He named former State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki as the White House Press Secretary and Kate Bedingfield, who was the deputy campaign manager for the Biden-Harris Campaign, as the White House Communications Director. For the first time in history, these communications roles will be filled entirely by women.
Biden had said that communicating directly and truthfully to the American people is one of the most important duties of a President. This communication team will be responsible for connecting the American people to the White House. He said, “I am proud to announce today the first senior White House communications team composed entirely of women. These qualified, experienced communicators have diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to building this country.”
Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said the United States is facing unprecedented challenges -- coronavirus pandemic, economic crisis, climate crisis, and a long-overdue racial injustice. She said, “To overcome these challenges, we need to communicate clearly, honestly, and transparently with the American people. This experienced, talented, and barrier-breaking team will help us do that.” President-elect Biden has a history of advocating on behalf of women in the US and around the world and the new team announcement is a continuation of that work.
