Kashmir’s Most Wanted Terrorist Killed

Riyaz Naikoo, Jammu Kashmir’s most wanted terrorist has been killed by the Indian army.

Riyaz Naikoo was the operational head of the terror group Hizbul Mujahideen. Riyaz was born in 1985. He was a maths teacher in a school. Riyaz was famous for sharp planning and launching attacks on the army and police. In September 2018, 11 relatives of police officers were abducted. It was Riyaz’s plan, he was the brain behind it. Riyaz’s father was taken into custody. When the father was released, the families were left off. The Ministry of Home Affairs has a list of most-wanted terrorists in Kashmir. He was on top of the list. There was a reward of Rs. 12 Lakh on him.

In January 2020, Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Inspector General of Police had said, “If we are able to kill Riyaz Naikoo, Hizbul would almost be wiped out from South Kashmir.” The army had received information that he was in his village named Beighpora. On Monday 5th May, Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police surrounded Beighpora village and started a search operation. The army had received information that he may be hiding in underground tunnels. The army then dug up fields and railway tracks around his house to search for him.

On Wednesday 6th May, when the army was searching for him near his house, shots were fired from the house and a dangerous firing between terrorists and the army started. Finally, the army was able to shoot and kill Riyaaz. The Indian army now believes they have avenged the killing of Bravehearts who had recently lost their lives in Handwara.
