Kerala Launched 1st Gender Park in India

The Kerala state government will launch the first “Gender Park” in the country which will work towards promoting gender equality and creating awareness in the state.

The Kerala state government will launch the first “Gender Park” in the country that will work towards promoting gender equality and creating awareness in the state. 

The park has cost rs 300 crore to be built. Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the park on the 11th of February.  On the same day, he will also lay the foundation of the International Women's Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC). This Centre is being built to empower women entrepreneurs and provide them a platform to market their products. The Gender Park will also have a Gender library, Gender museum, an amphitheatre and a convention centre. These will serve to promote gender equality in the state. The gender museum will highlight the various social struggles that were responsible to empower the status of women in society, their achievements etc. The gender library will help in creating public awareness on gender, and the role of gender in development. The convention centre will have the capacity to accommodate 500 people. The amphitheatre is set against a beautiful grass covered backdrop. 

K K Shailaja is the state Health, Social Justice, and Women and Child Development Minister. She said that such a plan is the first kind not only in the country, but also perhaps the entire world. She also said that they have already allotted Rs. 26 crore for the Gender Park, and kept aside another Rs 15 crore for the next financial year.
