Lifetime of Momos for Rs. 85 Lakh? UP Boy Gives Away Family Jewellery

A Class 7 boy in Uttar Pradesh was cheated by Momo vendors into giving jewellery worth Rs.85 lakh in exchange for free momos, leading to arrests and a police investigation.

A shocking incident has come to light from Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh, where a Class 7 schoolboy was cheated by local street food vendors in exchange for free momos.

The 12-year-old boy regularly visited a Momo stall near his area. Over time, the vendors became friendly with him and started giving him momos for free. Slowly, they gained his trust and told him that he could eat momos for free for his entire life.

In return, the vendors asked the boy to bring jewellery from his house. The child, not understanding the value of the jewellery, agreed. Over several days, he secretly took gold and silver jewellery from his home cupboard and handed it over to the momo sellers. The total value of the jewellery was estimated to be around ?85 lakh.

The matter came to light when the boy’s aunt visited the house and asked for her jewellery. When the family opened the cupboard, they were shocked to find it empty. After being questioned, the boy admitted that he had given the jewellery to the momo vendors.

The boy’s father, who is a temple priest, immediately approached the police and filed a complaint. The police registered an FIR and started an investigation. Two people, including a momo vendor and his mother, have been arrested.

During searches, police recovered some silver ornaments from one house and gold jewellery that had been buried at another location. The investigation is still ongoing to recover the remaining jewellery and find out if more people are involved.

The incident went viral on social media, with many users expressing shock and concern. While some jokingly called it the “world’s most expensive momos,” others highlighted how easily children can be manipulated.

Authorities have warned parents to talk to their children about strangers and teach them to be careful, so such incidents can be prevented in the future.
