Lockdown May Extend Post 3rd May

The nationwide lockdown was announced to control the spread of the coronavirus was originally planned for 21 days i.e. from 25th March to 14th April 2020. It was then later extended for 2 weeks from 15th April till 3 rd May 2020. On 27th April PM Modi held a video conference. The meeting included Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and many Senior Officials from Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Health Ministry. The meeting also included Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand.
During his interaction with the Chief Ministers, PM Modi asked them to ease the restrictions in non – hotspot areas and extend the lockdown in hotspot areas. During the meeting CM of Odisha and Meghalaya also suggested extending the lockdown period. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddav Thackeray had informed that he would decide on the next plan of action and would make the announcement on 30th April 2020. A statement from the PMO stated that during the video conference PM Modi informed the Chief Ministers that we will have to give importance to the economy and also continue the fight against coronavirus.
The Prime Minister said India has already had two lockdowns and now we have to think of the future. PM said that as per experts, the impact of the coronavirus will remain in the coming months. Masks and face covers will become part of people's lives in the future.
