A strange case happened in Kandagaradi village in Odisha’s Balasore district. The case has left local police confused. Let me tell you about it.There was a wedding of a man named Ramachandra Parida’s daughter. At 11 pm on 21st November night, the wedding procession entered the village. There was a DJ, loud music, even fireworks. However, Ramachandra Parida’s neighbour Ranjit Parida said that he argued with the wedding party about the loudness of their music, but they did not stop. His chicken farm has about 2000 chickens and they were agitated by the music and out of them 63 died. Ranjit said he tried to revive the chickens after they collapsed. Then he said that he checked with a vterinary doctor who said that it was the loud noise that killed the birds. Ranjit initially sought compensation from Ramchandra, but after Ramchandra refused, Ranjit filed the complaint on 22nd November at the Nilagiri police station.
Ramchandra Parida said, “So many chickens are transported on the road every day amid blaring horns. How is it possible that the birds in his farm died due to DJ music?” Prof Suryakanta Mishra, a zoology professor said that all chickens mostly rest and are inactive at night, especially when it is dark. Sudden loud music could have made them excited and stressed which may have caused their deaths. But it is not very clear. Nilagiri police station inspector Droupadi Das said she has called both for a discussion. “Such a case is completely new for me. We are yet to register the case and may consult a veterinarian.”
