Modi Chairs Meeting with CM to Discuss COVID Situation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8th April chaired a meeting with Chief Ministers to review the COVID-19 situation in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting with Chief Ministers to review the COVID-19 situation in India. This is the PM's second interaction with CMs in a month.
During the meeting, Modi said:
“India is going through the 2nd wave of COVID-19 but people have become complacent and state administrations have also become relaxed. I urge CMs to control the infections by increasing testing, tracking, and treatment for infections. Must trace at least 30 contacts of every infected person. States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab have witnessed a huge increase in cases. We have to work as if there is a war to fight COVID-19. This is a challenge but we have better experience, resources, and vaccines. I don’t want to say anything on the allegations being levelled from all sides. Those who want to do politics, let them do, I don’t wish to comment on their statements. But all CMs and our governments must come together to fight the pandemic.” Modi also suggested a three-day vaccine festival called ‘Tika Utsav’ from April 11-14 to the chief ministers and said that during these three-days, states should aim to vaccinate as many (those who are eligible) as possible.
