Modi Inaugurates Rail-Road Bridge in Assam
PM Modi inaugurates the Bogibeel bridge in Assam.
On 25 December 2018,Prime Minister Narendra Modi]inaugurated the Bogibeel Bridge in Assam.The bridge is 4.94 km long. It is the longest railroad bridge on the Brahmaputra river. The total cost to build the bridge was Rs 5,900 Cr. PM Modi, along with the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and the Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi were present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Bogibeel Bridge plays an important role for the defence of the Indo-china border in Arunachal Pradesh. The bridge will also help the army travel from the north of the Brahmaputra river to the south. This means that they can travel to the China border quickly.
The bridge will be very helpful for the people in the north east. It helps connect the eastern region of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh by helping people travel from the north of the brahmaputra river to the south. Students and patients used to cross the river by boat to reach the Dibrugarh University, the Assam Medical College and many other places. This bridge will make their life very easy.
This bridge is very strong and is safe from earthquakes too.
