More Than 470 Girls Have One Father

Mahesh Savani from Bhavnagar, Gujarat is a successful businessman with interests in diamond trading, real estate and education. Mahesh is known more for his humanitarian work. Mahesh Savani is an inspiration. Mahesh lost his brother 10 years ago. When it was time for his nieces’ wedding, Mahesh stepped up and performed all the duties of a father. That was easy as they were family. However this raised a question in his mind. He thought what about other girls who do not have a father in their life? Who would help organise their wedding? Another incident that shook him was the death of an employee who died just 12 days before his daughter’s wedding. When Mahesh realised that the family was finding it very difficult to organise the wedding he stepped in as a foster father.
These incidents in his life lead him to make a big decision. He decided to bear the wedding expenses of more than 470 girls without fathers in his village. Caste and religion did not matter to him. He said that he will do everything and nothing should fall short. All these girls consider him a father. There respect and love him a lot. He arranged for their weddings and spent around Rs. 4,00,000 on every wedding. He was very generous and gave each bride expensive gifts like gold or silver jewelry, clothes, electronics and other household items. In 2014, he conducted a mass wedding for 111 couples in Surat, Gujarat. During this wedding, each couple received gifts worth Rs. 4,50,000. He pays for all this on his own and not through donations.
