Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya met on the set of a movie - Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010 and dated for a while. Chaitanya is the son of Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao who is a south Indian superstar. The couple tied the knot in Goa on 6 October 2017 in a South Indian style wedding followed by a Christian wedding on October 7, 2017, respectively. They were one of the most loved couples in the South Indian film industry. In October 2021, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their split on social media by sharing identical posts. The fans were shocked by the news and the break-up news went viral. There were rumours that the reason for the split was because her husband’s family wanted Sam to be conservative like Amala Akkineni, her mother-in-law and not do revealing dance or acting. But Samantha wants to continue working in films and is firm on doing what she wants. Despite all this there are always rumours that the couple may patch up. 

However, first time ever, Sam's father-in-law Nagarjuna responded to the rumours in an interview saying, “It was Sam’s decision to file for divorce. My son accepted her decision but he was much worried about me, what I would think and what would happen to the family's reputation.  They both have been together for 4 years in the marriage life but no problem like this came between them. Both were so close and I don't know how it came down to this decision. They even celebrated 2021's New Year together, it seems that the problems have arisen after that.” Samantha has not responded to any of this yet. Work-wise Sam has been getting a lot of appreciation for her dance in the superhit film Pushpa.
