NASA to Send Space Probe to Venus

USA’s NASA has announced that it is sending two new Space Probes to Venus

Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty.  Very little is known about the planet.

A Space Probe is a robotic spacecraft that explores farther into outer space and collects data and sends it back to earth.  It keeps going around and does not land on any planet.  The last time the USA sent a space probe to Venus was in 1990. For the last 30 years the USA has not sent any space probes to Venus. Europe and Japan have sent their spacecraft to the planet. USA’s NASA has announced that it is sending two new Space Probes named Davinci+ & Veritas  to Venus in order to examine the planet's atmosphere and geological features. The missions, which have been given $500m in funding, are due to launch between 2028 and 2030. Nasa administrator Bill Nelson said, “Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system and has a surface temperature of 500 degrees. The two space probes will help us understand why Venus is such a hot planet.  It will also aim to determine whether Venus ever had an ocean and how the planet was formed.”
