Newborn Girl Thrashed By Mother in Uttar Pradesh
A woman allegedly thrashed her nine-day-old daughter, attacked her private parts and hit her head against the wall.
In a horrifying incident a mother thrashed her newborn baby girl as she wanted a son. The woman is a resident of Nandgram area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. She is suffering from mental issues and is being given treatment. She got married in February 2020. However, her husband was not aware of her mental instability before their marriage. On 21st June 2021, she delivered a baby girl at a hospital. Four days later, she was discharged. Her husband said that she got upset after the birth of their daughter as she wanted a male child. He tried to convince her that a girl child is goddesses Durga and Lakshmi’s gift. On 30th June, the woman’s husband, along with his mother, left the house to meet a priest to fix the date for the naming ceremony of the baby girl.
The husband said, “Around 2 PM, I got a call from my wife’s brother that she had lost her mind and was beating our child. I rushed home to find her grabbing my daughter’s leg between her teeth. The child’s head and leg were bleeding profusely. She even attacked the newborn’s genitals.I immediately snatched my daughter from hands and took her to a nearby hospital. Here the doctors referred her to a bigger hospital.”
The baby girl is currently being treated in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. As per doctors, the likelihood of her survival is low. The man said, “If the doctors succeed in controlling the infection my daughter will be saved. She has received stitches on her head and leg.” The accused woman has also been admitted to a hospital. Based on a complaint, the police have booked her for attempt to murder. The police would arrest after she gets discharged from the hospital.
