No More Big Fat Weddings in Delhi
In order to put a cap on extravagant weddings, the Delhi government issued new rules that will keep a watch on the venue, guests and the food served.
India is very famous for its extravagant weddings. These usually lead to wastage of food, a lot of garbage, etc. Inorder to control this, the Delhi Government has come up with new rules. Delhi Government will now keep a close watch on the number of Guests, Venue and Food Wastage in Weddings. They said that food leftover from weddings will be distributed to hungry people via NGOs. It is now compulsory for event managing teams and food caterers to work with an NGO that will make sure that the food reaches the poor.
The rules state that quantity of food should be equal to the number of guests that will be attending the wedding. The guest list must be sanctioned by the Municipal Corporations it must be able to fit the number of people in the venue. The Commissioner Food Safety will conduct inspections to do to keep a proper check and see if everyone is following the rules or not. If any of the rules are broken then strict action will be taken. The number of guests will have to be equal to the area of the venue. The area of the venues must be equal or more than 2.5 acres and only then will it be qualified for a social event. The number of guests can be decided by multiplying the total capacity of cars by 4 and then deciding the number of guests.
Moreover, the place should also have space for parking and should be easily accessible from the main road. Cleanliness must be maintained and there is less pollution. No garbage should be left. The utilization of horse driven carriages, groups and guns will not be allowed. The permissions from local group of fire- fighters. This is important if there are structures such as tents or other structures in open spaces.The venue operators will have to be more cautious as they will be fined heavily. The fines will start from Rs 5 lakhs for the first offence, Rs 10 lakhs for the second and Rs 15 lakhs for the third. Diesel generators will be allowed if there is no electricity. In order to protect the environment, the government has focussed on managing and treating garbage.
