More than 10,000 British Pakistanis from all over the UK, gathered at the Indian High Commission and carried out a violent protest. The protesters smashed windows of the [BOX 01 Indian High Commission office and created a lot of chaos. This protest was called the 'Kashmir Freedom March' and was organised by a plethora of British Kashmiri groups protesters carried placards saying, ‘Stop shelling in Kashmir’, ‘Time for the UN to act on Kashmir’. They angrily shouted “We want freedom” and “Azadi”. There were mainly British Pakistanis who had roots in PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir). They were protesting the 30th day of the Article 370 being removed and the lockdown of Kashmir.
The crowd threw hundreds of eggs, tomatoes, shoes, stones, smoke bombs and bottles and smashed several of its windows of the building. This is the second time they have done this in a month. On August 15, Indians were peacefully celebrating Independence Day at the high commission. Hundreds of angry protestors targeted them by throwing objects such as eggs, glass bottles, shoes, plastic bottles, etc. Windows of the building were smashed and women and children had to be taken inside the building for protection. The Indian High commision has lodged a complaint with the police and have shared images of the damage.
