Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine 95 Percentage Effective
Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and German drugmaker BioNTech on Wednesday said their COVID-19 vaccine has been found 95% effective in final trials.
In recent news of Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and German drugmaker, BioNTech who are working on the COVID-19 vaccine had said that their vaccine is 90% effective. In the latest news, the two companies made another announcement stating that their vaccine has been found to be 95% effective in final trials. The effectiveness of the vaccine was tested among all age groups, ethnicities, races, etc. The vaccine has been found to be completely safe. Pfizer and BioNtech said that they will apply for emergency US authorization "within days". The data about their vaccine will also be submitted to other regulatory agencies globally and will also be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
By the end of 2021, the companies hope to produce 1.3 billion i.e. 130 crore doses. The companies said they've developed specially-designed, temperature-controlled thermal shippers utilizing dry ice to maintain temperature conditions of -70°C. Vaccine shots need to be stored at -70°C. This may be difficult to do in India as well as many other countries. Meanwhile, the Indian authorities have indicated that India may not buy Pfizer's vaccines. However, NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr. VK Paul, who heads the National Task Force on COVID-19, the vaccines MAY be bought to India. Moderna has also announced that its vaccine is 94.5% effective.
