Pune: Girl Chased And Attacked With Sickle
A 21-year-old man attacked a 20-year-old college student with a sickle in broad day light on the street of Mumbai.

A 21-year-old man attacked a 20-year-old college student with a sickle. He allegedly attacked her because she had broken off their relationship due to his abusive behaviour. A few youngsters in the area caught the assailant at the time of the attack, and handed him over to the police after thrashing him.
The incident took place around 10 am on 27th June in Pune’s Sadashiv Peth and was caught on security cameras installed in the area. The alleged attacker is a student and a resident of Dongargaon village of Pune. Police said that the woman is currently pursuing an interior designing course at a college in Pune.
According to the police, “The woman was on the way to her college and was riding pillion on the bike of another male friend. The man had been following them asking her to talk to him. At a point the rider stopped and he and the man had an exchange of words. Moments later the man took out a sickle he was carrying in his bag and charged on the woman and her friend. The rider then ran away from the spot after resisting some blows by Jadhav. The girl then started running and was chased by the attacker armed with the machete. As the attacker started chasing the girl, some people raised an alarm and ran to intervene. After chasing her for some distance the man struck her on the head after which she fell on the ground. By that time some youths had started making attempts to stop the man and take away his machete. He however managed to strike again before he could be overpowered by people. The girl has sustained injuries on her head and hand. The injuries are from a sharp weapon. She has received treatment and is out of danger. The man was thrashed by the local youths and then he was handed over to police and was later placed under arrest and booked on the charges of attempt to murder ”
