Raghav Chadha vs AAP: Will Raghav Chadha Join BJP?
Raghav Chadha was removed by the Aam Aadmi Party from his Rajya Sabha leadership role amid reports of internal rift and reduced party involvement, despite his strong public issue advocacy.
Raghav Chadha, 37, a chartered accountant, has been with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since its early days. He gained visibility as a national spokesperson and became the party’s treasurer at just 26. He later won the 2020 Delhi elections from Rajinder Nagar, served as Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, and became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2022.
Known for raising issues like workers’ rights, high airfares, menstrual hygiene, paternity leave, and “sarpanch pati” practices, Chadha built strong public support.
However, on 2 April, AAP removed him as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and reportedly restricted his speaking time. The party gave no official reason, but insiders cited low involvement in party activities and growing distance from leadership.
His absence during key moments—like Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and major party events—along with silence after the 2026 excise policy case developments, added to speculation. Some also link this shift to his changing priorities since 2024.
Rumours suggest he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), though nothing is confirmed. Meanwhile, Ashok Kumar Mittal has replaced him as Deputy Leader.
Chadha responded with videos questioning the decision and reaffirming that he only raised issues for the common people, thanking the public for their support.
