School Fee Law Amended in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Government made a few changes in the few laws which the parents are unhappy with.

The Maharashtra State legislature passed a law that makes it hard for parents to go against the increase in fees by the school management.  According to the law, if 25% of the school’s parents are in majority they can approach the Divisional Fee Regulatory Committee (DFRC).

Parents are extremely disappointed with this change in the law. Very few parents decide to fight the school’s management as they fear their children suffering. This makes the law useless as the school will take advantage and increase the fees without fear any opposition.

A penalty will also be levied on  parents who default on the payment of fees. They will have to pay interest on the fees if they delay. The law also says that the school has to declare the fees of STD 1 to 10 during class 1 admission itself. Education Minister Vinod Tawde said, " This is good for parents as they will get an idea of how much their child's education will cost”.

The parents have not lost hope and are determined to fight these changes in the education system that seems to favor the school management over the parents.
